Fall or Not Fall?

Fall or Not Fall- that is the question. (not just a personal one about my balance today either)

I love fall, as many people do. The pretty leaves, that crisp feel to the air. Let’s just hope there isn’t another heat wave. I am pretty tired of canning tomatoes lol.

On to other, even more unimportant matters (if you take a wider world view), the boys had parent teacher conferences and…..wait for it….

They are all well behaved, geniuses!

Unbelievable! Not the genius part, the behavior part. We had major issues last year. But it looks the combination of a 26 year veteran teacher and one more year to mature, has done wonders.

Way to go guys!

On the President side of things, I need to make a few hundred dog treats for an event this weekend. Sweet Potatoes – dogs love them and they make nice chewy treats that are actually healthy! Just slice about a ½ inch thick and dry in the over @ 160 degrees for a few hours. Easy. Except the peeling part.

Friday looks like it will be a horrible day! I have torture  physical therapy scheduled for the morning, then a nice hour long trip to KC. Should be fun. I always leave physical therapy feeling like crap on a stick and then to sit in a car so I can have full on vertigo for an hour- Priceless. I would really rather not go, and if we are totally honest it isn’t like anyone really spends any actual time with anyone. Everyone is off doing their own thing or just complaining or yelling. Negativity on top of nausea- sounds like a great time- can’t wait.

No one can just be happy for 30 seconds about anything, everything is poor me. You have a roof, everyone is alive, you have food, you have more stuff than you know what to do with and you can buy more stuff whenever you want.

Yet, constant negativity. I really have enough of my own crap that I am trying very hard to keep a positive attitude about and be happy about what I have, right this minute. Whatever, thinking about it won’t make it better- neither will bitching.

In other news, the  health blog is going so, so. Not much change in traffic, will keep plugging away. The facebook page is slowly- painfully slowly gaining a few new followers. I am learning lots.

The Grand inquisitor  ,Physical therapist says I am making great strides at adapting to situations, but even now at my steadiest, hills are an issue. A big one. So, the answer to that is a walking stick. Since I can’t seem to get the hang of a cane.

I am a poet too, lol

So, a specially made ‘walking’ stick- that has a convertible tip is the way to go. The tip converts to a blunt metal point for traction on ice.

Ice- I completely didn’t think of what I was going to during winter- stay home lol.

The inquisitor physical therapist actually thinks I will do better with this, since if I grab for support- it is usually shoulder high- whatever works.

Although, it hasn’t happened this week so far, having my hearing just shut off is pretty scary, especially if it happens on the way back from the bus stop, since it leads me to frantic turning of my head, trying to look around me, which makes the vertigo worse. I would feel better if I could take Sam or Kenya with but neither are well behaved enough out of the house. Although, Sam does seem to know when I can’t hear anything and they both stick very close by when the vertigo is really bad.

Okay, enough of the bitching, today is morning break! I am so glad! An hour with people who are just happy to be around – makes an astounding difference in my own attitude.

Besides, we are still on 2nd Kings, my favorite!  Later people!

Walmart Sucks

WooHoo- I have physical therapy today~

Just kidding, I would rather not go. I may feel okay when I get there, but I feel like crapolo when I leave.

Mr. B. is wondering if there is a point to going at all.

It is a very good point. The point being to teach me how to stay balanced for the most part, even when my brain gets wrong information- muscle memory.

In theory, it is supposed to work. I have been told I look like I am walking better and not so much like I am in immediate danger of tilting over. Although, I do walk a bit like Grape Ape- if you are old enough to remember him.

Moving on- we have things to do today!

Have seen a slight increase in traffic over at the health blog, but not what I had wanted (something about CRT- I don’t know what that means). I guess I will keep plugging away and eventually we’ll get there.

Canned up some peppers for Mr. B, yesterday morning and with my bowl full of extra peppers, a couple of onions and about 6 cucumbers made some cucumber salsa. Which turned out different than I thought it would. I was thinking it would be a light refreshing sort of deal. Some how, it is more than a little twangy and a little bit spicy, but I am not sure why. I only used 4 or maybe it was 6 of the Japanese chili peppers for the whole batch. Whatever, it is still good. A-man liked it but he said it tasted like pickle salsa. I tried to explain that would be called relish. It started a whole deal that lasted about 20 minutes and ended in a draw.

And Doc wonders why I have TMJ- spend a day with me buddy, it will all become clear.

In other news it rained and poured and was awesome!!! Peppers are exploding and it looks like the tomatoes are going for another round.

I am out of Jars again and we bought 2 cases last time. I wonder if I can (pun intended) buy stock in Ball?

P.S. Walmart sucks. Their ‘canning’ jars, suck too. Don’t fit in my rack, the rings are all cheap, and of course made in China. I could have saved about $10 and bought them myself from China directly. Had to reprocess them twice! All of them. Only time that has happened this year. Won’t be buying them again.

So, now I am a canning snob.

In pursuit of more traffic for the health blog’s Facebook page, I just shared One Direction fan page. I apparently have no shame. At least my nieces will be proud of me. Lol

That is about it for now, I am off to go see if I can be all brilliant and whatnot then off for a torture session and finishing off the day with some lab work.

And people say I don’t know how to have fun 😉

Just Say No

Oh, I tried to write about the whole Syria thing and 3 pages into a rant, I decided that it really isn’t necessary.

I don’t think the US going into or firing upon Syria will make any sort of difference.

I don’t really think we should support someone who eats people. If you didn’t see the video the rebel leader posted of himself taking a big ‘ol bite out of the heart and liver of a dead soldier You can see it here REBEL

but please be aware- this is not make believe this is very real and very graphic.

I am not sure how we can stop anyone from using chemical weapons-But I am fairly sure that putting weapons in the hands of a wack job is not the way.

Call your congressman. You can find the contact information for your states reps here US House of Representatives.

You can also read the constitution here- in its entirety and I highly suggest if the last time you did was in high school, you need to read it again. Constitution of The United States.

We are the ones who are supposed to be in charge.

Kung Fu Fighting- Original

Everybody was kung fu fighten-da da da da dah dah

That song has been stuck in my head since my youngest brother made the decision to become a ninja. I want to be a ninja too- but I will skip all that pesky training and go straight to being the uber cool like Yoda dude. I have a staff and everything.

I took Tai Chi once, that should qualify me. I am also really good at telling people what they are doing wrong.

I have also seen every episode of Kung Fu- no not the one with the giant panda (have seen that one too) but the one with late and very great David Carradine

Can we say crush? I think we can. You may notice that there are suddenly links and things to click on the post. Just using ya’ll as guinea pigs- carry on.

I figure that before I go do something on the blogs that we want people to read I will try any crazy stuff here first.

In other news, I was able to get the Sweet pickles and salsa done yesterday. I am so sick of tomatoes! Pickles too. For 3 days, I worked on those pickles and for what? 5 jars. And a ¼ of one that is the fridge. I don’t even like sweet pickles. Processed THE jar of Salsa for my littlest brother (which is sort of misleading- since he may be my physically biggest brother- but he is the baby).

I decided that I would use a whole ghost pepper in his jar. So, I packed up processed it and was in such a hurry to get done, so we could leave- I may have forgotten exactly which one is his.

101_4968But, it will make the holidays all that more fun and special.

Doing fairly well, balance wise at least, but I still want a dancing pony. But that pesky pain is still in my left ear and that on/off switch with sound in my right ear is getting pretty annoying. My lip reading skills are improving immensely and I can turn my head in either direction without hitting the floor when I do. Up and down is still not working.

I did find several recipes in one of my endless files of essential oils for a dizziness, peppermint, cypress, basil, lavender, rose, rosemary & tangerine. So, I will play around and see if I can get some relief that way- who knows. I only have peppermint, basil and lavender here, but it is certainly worth a shot.

I am also going to share something from my brand new addiction- infographics!

Enjoy I have to work!

So Many Blogs, So Little Time

So, somehow, I ended up being elected as president of a local charity, which is fine, but it did add another blog to my already pretty extensive list of blogs I already write for. I just spent the last 2 hours trying to get the Paypal donate button to look right. Put in a text widget they said, easy they said. It doesn’t show up no matter how many times I do it.

Now it could be that I have wordpress in an offline format, so I don’t have to be online to blog. Somehow it screws with the netflix if I am online and someone wants to watch netflix (AT&T Sucks).

So, I give up on the FAAC blog for now, I have other blogs to work on.

Speaking of which, I am pulling my hair out with that one! I really don’t understand why it isn’t getting the attention it deserves- the content is good, I am doing everything that is supposed to be done and still, crickets. It really sucks.

I am about to go on there and say the Sooners suck and see if that helps traffic 😉 I bet it would. The Sooners don’t suck by the way and anyone saying that in my presence runs a risk of bodily harm, but I bet me saying it would spark some comments- at least it would be traffic.

People do seem to like the infographics so I will kept trying that.

Feel free to donate if you want, I posted it to see if it shows up later and goes where it is supposed to. If you want to donate to me personally (mental health fund perhaps) just hollar I would be happy to share my paypal address. That donate button above goes to help local animals.

This is a short little post today. Lots to do. Those Southern Pickles aka bread and butter pickles should be ready to process today. One day in Lime and one day soaking in the brine/sugar solution. I don’t like sweet pickles, but all the boys do including Ej- who only likes the ones I make;-)

I made myself some hot dill pickles and put varying amounts of chili peppers in the jars, thinking I would label them after they cooled. I packed the jars too tight and can’t see the red peppers to know which one has which number of peppers. So I have 2 jars ‘AOR’- at own risk. I should give a jar to my littlest brother:)

Off to go take care of those tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers.

I did learn yesterday that I am a lot more steady without shoes on and if I move quick I am less likely to fall down. This should have been a no brainer, isn’t that how most babies do it when they start learning to walk? Barefoot and as fast as they can lol.

I just can’t seem to figure out how to do Zumba but, I will keep trying. Kurtis (physical therapy dude) says that I can re-learn everything, I just have to not trust what my eyes are saying, since they are obviously lying. The theory is my other senses will pick up the slack. Yeah, okay.

Meanwhile, I saw a dancing horse named Marvin on QUBO- That is exactly what I want!!! A zumba dancing horse.

I want a Pony

Nice, more tomatoes.  And this isn’t even all of them.  this is just a small portion of what I pulled out and washed.

The picture below is batch 3 of the salsa.  Maybe about a med-hot.

The pic below was of the beautiful sunset last night at the game.

now that we are done with that.  I am flippin hot!  Hottest day of the year and I am canning.  Not a good combo when dizzy.  But, 1 batch of pickles and peppers and then my experiment with pickled cauliflower and green beans.

Yes, I know that sounds strange, but I had a bunch of the pickling mix made up and didn’t want to waste it  and the resulted in me just pickling whatever was handy.

We will see how it turns out.

Meanwhile, I have a new porch- almost.  Mr. B has been outside all day, ripping up boards and putting in new ones.   So, that is almost done- I really can’t wait!

He also informed me that everything is flowering- Everything.  I guess I will need more jars- among other things.  I used almost 3 gallons of vinegar today.

Last nights’ little trip to the game taught me a few things.

A-Excited children make terrible balance aids

B- I need to either get a balance, train one of mine or use the damn cane consistently.

C- I am much better without shoes on.

I chose not to take the cane yesterday, because I was feeling pretty good yesterday, not so wobbly and instead of full on vertigo it is just more of everything seems to be moving just a bit faster than I am- a lag time sort of deal.

That is until I went to physical therapy, where I am learning to fake having my shit together ( which I do rather well any).  So we did our little balance training exercises until I felt like complete crap- good times, we are going to go for two days next week!

Going up and down the normal size bleachers (which seemed like Everest to me) was not fun.  Next week I believe that the boys can go enjoy the game and I will stay home and do something less challenging (like watch the game on the computer)

The doctors ( we have added a few new ones to my otherwise obnoxious number of medical advisors)  all again with me having Menier’s and along with my other issues may result in my being at least somewhat dizzy all the time- outside of a Menier’s episodic attack.

If I bleach my hair I can be a dizzy blond- har har

Aside from the dizzy, which can be amusing.  The hearing in my right ear just goes on and off- like someone is flipping a switch.  That could also be convenient occasionally.  But it does mean that if I were to go the service dog route I would need a hearing/balance dog.  When I mentioned that Great Danes are the most recommended for balance dogs, he said- why not just get a pony.

Which is a very good point.  Why can’t I get a pony?  They can be trained.  They do have very good hearing and my floors are already messed up because of the dogs, I don’t see hooves doing any more damage.  Plus, think of the fertilizer people!!!! FREE  and organic.

Just think of the possibilities!

2 Boys and 2 Dogs Walk Into a Bathroom

As much as I would like to say that is the beginning of a funny joke, it isn’t.

Although you may laugh, I did, eventually.

I somehow got new followers yesterday and the day before- Odd. My own family won’t follow this publicly – lol. So, if you made a wrong click thanks for stopping by, the Top Ten of Everything blog is a few pages over- good stuff!

If you did actually me to follow me, then um, thanks. Back to the story.

At 7:30, I told E that he needed to go up and get ready for bed, brush teeth, wash face. A was told he should go up and go to the bathroom, while E used the sink.

A few minutes later, I hear them switching posts, which is fine- the routine is being followed. Then I start hearing giggling, what sounds to be someone jumping off the step stool, and the distinct sound of a toilet tank lid being moved. I yelled, loud enough they should have heard me, 3 times, to cut out the goofing off and do what they are supposed to.

A few minutes later a loud crash, the sound of breaking glass, and a bang loud enough to shake the ceiling fan lights.

I am not all that fast right now, but I tried to be. It was one of those moments that later, you really wish, someone had installed hidden cameras in your house, because this stuff would be worth $10,000 at least.

I made it all the way to the living room door when A-man starts screaming that he has an issue.

He said issue.

I finally make it up the stairs- all while A-man is yelling he has an issue. Picture a drunk trying to jump onto a moving merry-go-round, that is probably what I looked like trying to get upstairs.

Eventually, I get up there and it looks like, I don’t know what that looked like.

Aden was attempting to hold up the shelving unit thing that we had over the back of the toilet. Everything that used to be on it was on the floor. A lovely mix of Shattered cologne and perfume bottles, lotion, makeup, plants, you name it on the floor.

The story goes that E was sitting on the pot and leaning back and rocking above mentioned shelving unit. Then A-man decided to give it a try.

That would about the time disaster struck.

Now, by the time I actually made up the stairs, I was pretty – let’s go with upset.

(mad-pissed off- ticked – livid). But, the look on their faces was priceless!

One of those parenting moments, when it takes everything you have not to bust out laughing- because this is serious, funny, but you can’t laugh.

So, while I try and contain myself, I right the shelving unit and pick A-man up off the floor.

They didn’t get into trouble for this incident, simply because, E had to stand on that step stool in the corner, with A-man perched on the edge of it, while I cleared a path through the glass. By the time I was done, and it did take a while, the damn floor would not hold still. Both boys and dogs were upset enough.

After a little session of removing glass slivers from feet and legs, I got them in bed and proceeded to clean the rest up.

They did learn a lesson. The whole house reeks of Cool Water, which hopefully will go away soon- I used to like it. Now- not so much.

A-man did offer to use his own money to replace everything that was broken and he was truly sorry and said he would ground himself. He was quite floored when I told him he was not in trouble at all..

Moving on, I am hoping that my post about pole dancing as exercise will pay off for the other blog. Today, I am off for more physical therapy, but to be honest I don’t think it is going to work. I do believe that the symptoms are fading on their own and hopefully they will stay that way.

The hearing is a little better in the right ear and the pressure is gone but it has moved to the left ear.

Whatever, in the immortal words of Sweet Brown “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

So, with that note I will leave you with her great words of wisdom, and a sincere wish that you always can get a cold pop when you want one.
