Kids May Actually Be Paying Attention
Even though most students are staring at
their smartphones the clock, wishing they could go home, a few seem to be paying attention. Check out what happens when kids really do listen.
I was scrolling through my Facebook this morning and catching up on all the fun stuff that was posted last night. I came across a picture with an ad that was supposed to say 100% Angus Burgers, it did not. It said 100% Anus Burgers. I won’t mention the well-known company that posted this billboard, since they aren’t paying me, but you shouldn’t have trouble figuring it out.
Anyway, I shared it and commented ‘Why education is important’. Which of course, got me to thinking. There could be many reason why it was misspelled. But, one of the many things I learned in school, was to always check your work. I can’t imagine that teachers have changed so much, that they just don’t care anymore. My kids are in school. The teachers do care. Maybe they are overwhelmed, by having to do to many things that are not teaching. Crowded classrooms, little pay and not much respect certainly don’t seem to me, to be the best way to treat the people, who will ultimately, shape the future of this world. We pay athletes, millions of dollars to play a game and actors get an outrageous amount to pretend. Most teachers have 2nd jobs. Doesn’t sound right, does it? If our society pays people based on ability, why don’t teachers make money like celebrities? I was lucky growing up to have several, outstanding teachers. A few of which, I did not like at the time, because they were tough. But, I learned what I was supposed to. I know teachers now, that could be Rock Stars. Their students love them and learn from them. I think that should warrant a million dollar contract. I can think of many, many ways we can get more money into the education system. Trust me, they won’t involve the kids, doing fundraisers every other month, just so they can get a piece of playground equipment.
I’ll save that rant on where the money should come from, for another day. I’m off to finish my coffee and get my grocery lists done. Glad to see we all survived 2012 DA-14.
Looks like the scientists were right after all:)
