Kung Fu Fighting- Original

Everybody was kung fu fighten-da da da da dah dah

That song has been stuck in my head since my youngest brother made the decision to become a ninja. I want to be a ninja too- but I will skip all that pesky training and go straight to being the uber cool like Yoda dude. I have a staff and everything.

I took Tai Chi once, that should qualify me. I am also really good at telling people what they are doing wrong.

I have also seen every episode of Kung Fu- no not the one with the giant panda (have seen that one too) but the one with late and very great David Carradine

Can we say crush? I think we can. You may notice that there are suddenly links and things to click on the post. Just using ya’ll as guinea pigs- carry on.

I figure that before I go do something on the blogs that we want people to read I will try any crazy stuff here first.

In other news, I was able to get the Sweet pickles and salsa done yesterday. I am so sick of tomatoes! Pickles too. For 3 days, I worked on those pickles and for what? 5 jars. And a ¼ of one that is the fridge. I don’t even like sweet pickles. Processed THE jar of Salsa for my littlest brother (which is sort of misleading- since he may be my physically biggest brother- but he is the baby).

I decided that I would use a whole ghost pepper in his jar. So, I packed up processed it and was in such a hurry to get done, so we could leave- I may have forgotten exactly which one is his.

101_4968But, it will make the holidays all that more fun and special.

Doing fairly well, balance wise at least, but I still want a dancing pony. But that pesky pain is still in my left ear and that on/off switch with sound in my right ear is getting pretty annoying. My lip reading skills are improving immensely and I can turn my head in either direction without hitting the floor when I do. Up and down is still not working.

I did find several recipes in one of my endless files of essential oils for a dizziness, peppermint, cypress, basil, lavender, rose, rosemary & tangerine. So, I will play around and see if I can get some relief that way- who knows. I only have peppermint, basil and lavender here, but it is certainly worth a shot.

I am also going to share something from my brand new addiction- infographics!

Enjoy I have to work!

I want a Pony

101_4924

Nice, more tomatoes.  And this isn’t even all of them.  this is just a small portion of what I pulled out and washed.

The picture below is batch 3 of the salsa.  Maybe about a med-hot.

The pic below was of the beautiful sunset last night at the game.

now that we are done with that.  I am flippin hot!  Hottest day of the year and I am canning.  Not a good combo when dizzy.  But, 1 batch of pickles and peppers and then my experiment with pickled cauliflower and green beans.

Yes, I know that sounds strange, but I had a bunch of the pickling mix made up and didn’t want to waste it  and the resulted in me just pickling whatever was handy.

We will see how it turns out.

Meanwhile, I have a new porch- almost.  Mr. B has been outside all day, ripping up boards and putting in new ones.   So, that is almost done- I really can’t wait!

He also informed me that everything is flowering- Everything.  I guess I will need more jars- among other things.  I used almost 3 gallons of vinegar today.

Last nights’ little trip to the game taught me a few things.

A-Excited children make terrible balance aids

B- I need to either get a balance, train one of mine or use the damn cane consistently.

C- I am much better without shoes on.

I chose not to take the cane yesterday, because I was feeling pretty good yesterday, not so wobbly and instead of full on vertigo it is just more of everything seems to be moving just a bit faster than I am- a lag time sort of deal.

That is until I went to physical therapy, where I am learning to fake having my shit together ( which I do rather well any).  So we did our little balance training exercises until I felt like complete crap- good times, we are going to go for two days next week!

Going up and down the normal size bleachers (which seemed like Everest to me) was not fun.  Next week I believe that the boys can go enjoy the game and I will stay home and do something less challenging (like watch the game on the computer)

The doctors ( we have added a few new ones to my otherwise obnoxious number of medical advisors)  all again with me having Menier’s and along with my other issues may result in my being at least somewhat dizzy all the time- outside of a Menier’s episodic attack.

If I bleach my hair I can be a dizzy blond- har har

Aside from the dizzy, which can be amusing.  The hearing in my right ear just goes on and off- like someone is flipping a switch.  That could also be convenient occasionally.  But it does mean that if I were to go the service dog route I would need a hearing/balance dog.  When I mentioned that Great Danes are the most recommended for balance dogs, he said- why not just get a pony.

Which is a very good point.  Why can’t I get a pony?  They can be trained.  They do have very good hearing and my floors are already messed up because of the dogs, I don’t see hooves doing any more damage.  Plus, think of the fertilizer people!!!! FREE  and organic.

Just think of the possibilities!

Up To My Eye Balls In Tomatoes

Fresh from the Garden

Fresh from the Garden

With the combination of that late snow in May, the garden has been very slow to produce, so has everyone’s. But, once it did, it has not stopped or slowed down in the slightest!.

B- went a bit crazy with the tomato plants this year and from February to late May, one room up stairs was turned into a nursery for tomatoes and pepper plants.

We only planted Roma and grape tomatoes and 4 kinds of peppers; Poblano, Cubanelle, Bell and Banana. All of which are now producing more than I can keep up with.

B- had decided that with so many tomatoes plants we wouldn’t have room for green beans- so he planted them along the outside of the fence (before we bought the lot, but it was still on our property). Two very long rows of green and yellow beans. Which didn’t do so well until recently. The sun and the rain have made them take off. I think so far I have put up 20 + pounds of beans.

In mid July, I found some old cucumber seeds and let the boys have them and then forgot all about them. I have never had much success, but apparently they have the magic touch, I have a lot of cucumbers all of the sudden.

So I have pickled and canned and spent a good amount of time on the kitchen (sometimes on the floor) discussing philosophy with the dogs or Mama Cat, who ever happens to be hanging out.

I have figured out that I need a rolling cart, something along the lines of rolling butcher block, so that I am not turning so much when I can. B said he can make one of those, he is very handy to have around 😉

Today, I am going to try out a Cucumber Salsa recipe, before I post it on the health-recipes-fitness site. I did find a recipe like it, but it called for almost 2 cups of sugar to 4 diced cucumbers- can we say sugar shock!

So, I have tweaked it a bit and we’ll see.

The pressure is almost gone in the right ear, but now it feels like it is building up in my left. Sort of like the pressure you feel when you fly on a plane- that pressure that makes you want to pop your ears, except I can’t pop them.

So, all I can really do is work around it and try and focus on those clients that are important to me and farm out the rest- which is probably a very good thing in the long run. I really want to devote more time to the health-recipes blog and with so many clients, I just don’t feel like it is getting the attention it truly deserves.

Besides, there is just no reason now for me to work for people I don’t like. Which sadly means that I will be down to only Australian, Canadian and one single American client (although, I think he may actually be a Canadian that just lives in the US. Lol

I do have to go back to PT on Friday. The cane does help me feel a bit more confident about walking but, being the paranoid person I am, I don’t like not being able to look around or behind me. Maybe I should start training Sam, if she can learn to not pull, she would be fine to walk with.

I am off, to go see if I can find something that will send the HRF blog into viral status, finish up my social media marketing project and another little town in Montana.

At some point, I have about 8-10 pounds of green beans to put up and cucumbers to do something with, so I guess that means this session of therapy is over!

I need a small army of minions:)

P.S. Even though I don’t like discussing politics, I would like to say that I really don’t think we should give weapons to cannibals- just a thought. Even though I do understand the psychology behind ancient practice of ingesting part of your enemy to ‘absorb’ their strength’, I think we should be a little more civilized by now.

Allergies Suck

Call me Capt’ Obvious but allergies do really suck.  And sadly, I believe we have pretty much done this crap to ourselves.  Chemical this and chemical that in everything.

If you read much that was written (non-fiction) way back before or even during the beginning of the industrial revolution, people just didn’t talk about allergies much.

Why? they probably didn’t have them.

Why? They ate local food and used natural sweeteners, like, oh- local honey.

And studies show that local honey, if you actually eat the honey that is from your local area- over time you will see a decrease in seasonal allergies.

We over clean. No comments here from my clean freak brother with a touch of OCD, who can’t get things clean enough – ever. (I sometimes deliberately don’t clean stuff so he will get all freaked out when he comes over!)

Not, really true, I just don’t have the time and there are too many dogs, cats and boys running amok to really keep this place spotless. If I do clean the place, in 10 minutes you can’t tell anyway.

By the way, I am allergic to anything with fur or feathers, probably scales, most likely rocks as well, but you don’t see me kicking them outside.  And even though I did grow up on a small farm, critters were not allowed in the house. My house if a freaky zoo.

But, with our food and the stuff I clean with I do try to avoid chemicals, especially with what we eat. Which explains all the gardening and canning going on here.

Chemical Shit storms are just not my idea of fun. Saying chemical shit storm is.

I have wanted to use that phrase for a while now but I am fairly certainly none of my clients would go for that.

Speaking of which, I have a slight conflict of interest thingy going on.

One of my clients- who to be really honest is not worth me working for, but I continue to out of misplaces sense of loyalty since he was one of my very first clients back when I started the whole freelance thing, asked me to do a post for a blog- and said it would mean so much if they got the client, please, please.

So, I did. But, the site to me looks like a direct competitor of the other health & wellness site that I write/work for, which I do enjoy. If client A does get the job, then he will expect me to do the posts.

Money is nice, since I am quickly racking up the bills with this menier’s thing and I am fairly certain that I am getting very close to needing some adhesions cleaned out.

Things that make you go hmmm.

More than likely I will tell client A – NO unless I get to keep the byline. In that case it may be worth it, then I might be able to leverage traffic from client A to client B, if that makes any sense at all.,

Probably not.

I do tend to rattle on, when I am avoiding the bigger issue. Had the talk about the Meneir’s disease with Mr. B yesterday morning and he took it surprisingly well. So, he is either being super supportive or he didn’t hear a word I said 😉

But he did say I could get a cane with a gun, I want one with a sword- because they way cooler, and when my littlest brother becomes a ninja I want to be ready~

I should be fairly caught up with work so I can go play guinea pig this morning.

But, will still need to work through the weekend to stay that way. Dr. says the TMJ is from clenching my jaw & to wear a mouthpiece when I sleep. I clench my jaw when I am awake a lot so maybe that is when I should wear it, I hope they have hot pink or neon orange.

That being said, my computer just informed me that I have a few articles to submit before, we head out.

You people have fun.

Meniere’s Disease- Really?

Meniere’s Disease- Really?

So, not to be neglectful, which I have been , we’ll do a quick update, before I start bitching.

So, the Amelia festival was wonderful!  I loved having a houseful of kids running and acting crazy and just being surrounded by people I love!- it was wonderful- will do again next year.

Other than that, I haven’t been posting because, I am just way to busy posting on other people’s blogs to even have a moment for me. That being said, I do enjoy what I am doing and I actually feel like I might actually be making a small contribution to society, tiny, but still.

Now, let’s get to the bitching part, because the boys will be home shortly and I have to go be brilliant for other people and the veggies are piling up and massive canning needs to be done.

As a bonus prize to the last round of nasty ragweed that went around, I got a massive ear infection.  Which I still have, which made me dizzy and led to slicing a nice size chunk off my thumb the other day as I was using a mandolin to slice  a cucumber.  It is remarkably hard to type without a thumb.  Super Glue is a marvelous thing.

I remember now why I never use that damn thing.

I thought that the ear infection was making my vertigo worse, which it is to a point.  And rather than go the route of sucking down another antibiotic I opted not to take an oral one.

Reason:  I am allergic to so many antibiotics that now only the heavy duty ones work and with my history of staph infections, I will try and save them for after surgeries or when I might die without them, just a thought. So, we are doing ear drop antibiotics, Yippie, can’t hear out of my right ear and I swear my ear drum is going to pop any second.

Went to the doctor, who assures me it won’t be the end of the world if it does pop- but it probably won’t.  He thinks the sudden increase in pressure is something else entirely, since the infection seems to be clearing up.  However I am still running a fever. The ear infection/vertigo diet is a success though, I have lost 5 pounds over the last 5 days. Nausea works wonders for appetite control.

So, what do I have?  He thinks it is a combination of Meniere’s Disease and TMJ.

WTF?  Really?  Although I do clench my teeth a lot, but if I didn’t my mouth would run rampant- and we just can’t have that.

So, physical therapy on Friday to see if they can’t help with the vertigo.

Doctor handed me a sheet and said, ‘now, you need to be careful with your diet!”

(No, this was not my regular doc, he was out today)  Low salt, lots of water, limit caffeine- you know a basically healthy diet.

I already do all that- any more of a healthy diet and I wouldn’t have anything left to eat.

Okay done bitching, back to work.

I have way too many clients to have any issues right now, plus, it looks like I will be canning tomatoes & peppers this weekend – again!

I need  clone
